About prosperity

Had a chat with Mercy last night about prosperity and our faith. Alot of preachers out there are preaching on prosperity, that God will bless us abundantly, and i told her, that’s true, God will bless us abundantly, but is it necessarily material blessing? She said that the church has a poverty mindset, that which i am not sure, but one thing i am sure, the early church in the book of Acts, shared what they had, and they are not exactly material wealthy.

Many of us thought when God bless us with a mercedes, or a lottery prize of a million dollar, that’s blessing? God is more concern about our spiritual condition than what goes into our bank account. The mystery that God can use material wealth to test our heart, not for the sake of spitefully showing us we are carnal, but to show where our heart is. The scriptures put it so adequately, where our heart is, there our treasure will be also.

I have seen two examples of pastors living with the right perspective of godly prosperity, i might be wrong, but from their life and their work, we can judge its fruits. Apostle Roderick, who never withheld blessings, what he has, he gave, he gave cars, expensive watches when God told him to, and personally, he has shown favours in my life that i do not deserve. The second person, is Pastor Kong from City Harvest Church, whose one sermon at the old venue beside Lion City Hotel, on Blessings. He demonstrated it by his examples and in his life.

Are we discerning enough and be responsible for what we are receiving and listening in church, or what we read from the various books?
