Living above Mediocrity

22 06 2007

I went back to cellgroup last night and it wasn’t what i expected it to be, from the start to the finish, i found myself drawn into a discussion which i dread as much as what i hated what i was previously. However i wonder, if the church is really ‘dead’?

The church has lost its shine, not just passion, but the hunger and thirst for spiritual stuff. Its appetite for God is lost as the church is since Apostle got the stroke. I have to admit, several times, I wonder where the church is heading. It is true that we are not getting the same type of sermons but all credits to what Pastor Frankie is putting in, the church’s number is dropping, less enthusiastic during worship, and for a moment, or actually a few, that the entire service looks like a staged performance.

I really dread the discussion on that last night because i feel keenly that christians today or rather within the church depend on the leadership for their spiritual health. Probably that the church’s built around Apostle does not help when he is missing in action, rather than building it around our faith in Christ. As opposed to what Alex said about no one fights alone, i for one, fought the christian battle alone for the last 8 years? and i survived. My spiritual growth is not depended on human nor the sermons in church, they merely are the additional encouragement, and i am not sure about this, that we ought to be growing from our daily walks in Christ. That everyday ought to be an intimate exchange with God.

One is allowed to argue, or even struggle with God, as i’ve learned, that even at times expressing our difficulty in trusting in Him, or even when doubts crept in about His existence. God will respond. God will show me how real He is. If Christian walk is all smooth, then that i must question if that’s the same God i serve. Adversities have its uncanny ways to make us grow, it forces us to look beyond what humanly strength can possibly be exhausted to what is ultimately infinite, that is only in God. We need to come to that point and realized, it is not me. I’ve done all i can humanly possible and yet fail utterly, and the only way is to trust in Him, and when one reaches that point, it is alot easier to pour the entire being in trusting God, for there is truly, without a ‘me’ in there anymore.

I realized in the midst of the ‘discussion of church’s mediocrity’ that my ministry lies outside of this church, in teaching, and in preaching. But what’s ministry? Someone once asked, should fellowshipping be always constantly on spiritual things, not bridge, or having fun, or having discussion on secular things? Let all our conversation be wholesome and reflecting the grace of our Lord Jesus. (just thinking of a verse in the bible on that, somewhere if i remember vaguely).

If cell is like that every week, i will probably decide to quit it for good? Not sure but that’s definitely not what i have in mind actually…… just a slightest bit of disappointment that it dragged till 11pm. Goosh.

So what do you understand by Church? Cell? Ministry? Is it written about in God’s Word? If so, what does it tell us about these? Are we fulfilling it according to His Word? I struggled over these questions too for the past few months. I won’t tell you the answers, but suffice to say: if we build our Christian life on man’s understanding and not the Truth, sooner or later, we’ll be disappointed by the reality of things. You’re a thinking man, but you’re going to need both insight and revelation to answer these. Talk to Jesus tonight. Parting questions: What is the 4th Commandment? How are we to obey this command in the age? Will keep praying for you and Mercy. Shalom!

It sounds like your Church is in a bit of a transition as things change since your Apostle, a good leader who had a successful following is no longer leading. Leaders come and leaders go and followers move about as leaders change. Sometimes it’s for the better sometimes it’s not. Sometimes that change can also turn the ones who once followed into leaders themselves. Some of the things you are saying make it sound like you are thinking of giving it a shot – I say go for it!

Good leaders however never forget where they came from. I’d think not going to cell as often so that you can peruse what you are feeling would be a better alternative to quitting for good.

Jesus said:”Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. Mat7:24-27

Hi Darling.

I read this today : )

“And He Himself gave some to be Apostles, some prophets , some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ… but pseaking thr truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him, who is the head – CHRIST – from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love” – Ephesians 4 : 11 to 16

I agree with you that Apostle has been a guiding light and often times a source of strength and faith that the church looks upon. However, that is largely because he is our Spiritual Daddy – the pillar of the church and the Leader of the church isn’t it : )

I believe the lack of prayer is a strong factor why the church seems to be less than zealous. However, I know that I know, not that I feel nor even I think but I know that I know that God is getting the church ready to grow up and he is beginning to draw those who are hungry for him to pray and seek his face. It need not neceesarily mean that a drop in numbers is a bad sign but rather God is ‘sieving’ (Is this how I spell this ? haha) those who are loyal and who are strong enough to begin to focus on God and build their trust on the Lord to press on and carry on the vision of Paradise of God – OUR NATION IN OUR GENERATION

You see I believe that God is beginning to force the chosen ones in the church to rise up and break out of their fear and below average spiritual life for God.

This is the period where the hot are sepearated from the lukewarm. The quality ones are being spotted and hand – picked by the Lord and God is watching to see who are those who will press on without having Apostle here to lead us and talk to us because Paradise is a missionary sending church and for many of us who are called to be in the mission field, well Apostle will not always be there to lead us.

God is raising spiritual giants in this church and he is watching who will obey the call in such a period like we are going through now. Who will press on and rise up in times like these ? Who are those who will not complain but make things happen through actions and their life ?

God is causing a stirring in those who long knew their call through God and confirmed by prophecies. This is a time to see if the chosen ones will rise up and move into the destiny. Destiny is not a destination but a person – the person of CHRIST. Your minstry starts from the inside out. Who Jesus wants to be through you inside is what your minstry will reveal on the outside. If Jesus wants to be a teacher through you and disciple others through you … then focus on what kind of Teacher Jesus is and grow to teach like him : )

I believe your teaching and preaching minstry will definitely move outside of the church and in fact into nations as what prophetic words over your life has confirmed. Think sweetheart… what kind of tecaher was Jesus was when he was on earth. Study him. Who did Jesus talk to… hmmmmm… come to think of it .. dont you find that his 12 disciples are very much the people in your cell , the church.. like me ????

Well.. when you finally become Jesus the tecaher from the inside out.. you have realised you ministry and the heart of God as a teacher and you will teach in love and you will begin to hear God’s voice telling you why you are in Paradise and in cell.

Paradise lack teachers with in depth knowledge of the scripture. I agree we are stronger in the spirit than in the word. Why ? Because the tecahers will not rise up. And I am glad you are beginning to ponder because it means the leading of the Lord is stirring your heart to rise up. Spending more time with Daddy God will give you a clearer vision of the direction he wants you to take : )

The intercessors in the intercession ministry have been feeling the voice of the Lord demanding prayer… and we are praying for more to rise up in prayer and come to church to pray before the service…. can I tell you something.. last sunday.. there were only 2 intercessors around and does that make us feel lousy ? NO ! Because we have been taught by Apostle that often times it takes just one person who believes enough to stand up and fight to change history. Now there were two and I believe more will be on fire for prayer in the days ahead because I keep seeing this vision of people crying thier hearts out kneeling before the stage and I believe it is God saying something. I believe in what I see and I know that the time is coming where Paradise will cry out for more of God… I can see those who are hungry in Paradise and that is enough. Im not sure if you know the ones who are hungry or if you see their hunger but I see it and that is why I know God is not finished with Paradise.

I see greatness in you sweetheart and the kind of disciples you will groom are going to awesome men of God . How about beginning to lay out how you will disciple someone : ) and begin to ask leaders and others to comment on your style of teaching. Doing that probably allows you to have a clearer understanding of wht kind of disciples God wants you to raise : ) and the area of teaching God wants you to focus on : )

Just like different intercessors have different intercession gifts and move in different stream and all need each other.. I believe teachers too move in different streams. You may be good in one particular stream but may not be called into another stream because someone else is gifted to teach that stream. So what stream of teaching do you belong to ? And do you only belog to the teaching ministry… precahing too.. so what is the ultimate call upon your life.. Apostle started as a teacher and as the years go by … it turns out God had called him to be an Apostle.

Well Jesus ministry started when he was 30 years old. You are 30 years old this year…
Press on darling. Im glad you are begining to ponder about what God is calling you to do in the ministry He is calling you to. Im proud of you. Oh and Im proud you went to cell. It blesses my heart just like it blesses Pastor Sally’s heart. Because you finally took the step to say in action : “I’ll obey what God told me to do, to go back to cell and I’ll try to mingle with others” well the first meeting did not go the way you wanted .. as time goes by … you will begin to know more and more why God wants you tog o back to cell… one meeting is not enough to know sin’t it : ) I love you. You are awesome !

And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and HE is in heaven. Matth23:9

And I tell you that you are Peter(stone), and on this Rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Matth 16:18
