Ministry

5 03 2007

The consistency of a theme over the weekend convicted me another way how God speaks to Man, that God is emphasizing on the topic of ministry. Surprisingly, Joseph, Joseph’s wife Juliet, Abel and Mercy met up on Saturday afternoon for drinks near my place and Juliet was talking to Mercy about Ministry. While Juliet was sharing, God brought to my attention again on the issue of ministry – mine, and mercy’s.

Question of mercy’s ministry in China and whether she or we are ready, i believe in this, as shown in the life of Moses, his ministry didn’t start at the return to Egypt, but the day he was born, he was born to deliver Israel from the hands of the Pharaoh. His 40 years in the finest education of Egypt played an important role as his roaming in the wilderness for the next 40. The first 40, God is equipping Moses to be a fine administrator and in managing a nation, and the next 40, equipped Moses the skill of surviving the Wilderness for the people of Israel. In every step, even when Moses tried to rush into his role of a deliverer, God’s plans are not thwarted. I thank God even tho I am such a stubborn, impatient man, i thank Him for His unlimited love and patience. For Who He is, I am under the unexplainable Grace. All good things work for good to those who love Him.

And on Sunday, an elderly couple came to church to preach, they have manna in their bible and gems appearing for them, i must admit, i was uncomfortable when initially they preached God’s blessings to them on them receiving manna and the gems. I am not an ardent believer in such signs and wonders of which the preacher, she refer to the gems and appearing of manna as signs and wonders, i believe it is more than such superficial things, it is about hardened sinners coming to Christ, it is about the lame walk, the deaf hears, the blind see! It is about bringing about a radical change in a criminal’s life to a life of holiness! Such, greater are these signs and wonders than mere Manna and Gem. I was uninterested in these, and I was disappointed to see that the attendance increased to 130 from 70 because of these preachers and perhaps the extra 80 came for signs, but totally missed out God. When Pastor Frankie said that the manna was appearing on the floor, these rushed forward to see and to pick them up. No wonder the scriptures talked about these in the end times who seek after the signs but was spiritually blinded, to think that such manna can heal but actually it is only through the power of our Lord Jesus who can heal, not the manna. The scene makes me sick, left me wondering if that service is a circus, lost with reverence for God.

I have to add, I was the soundman for the service and i thank God for that because I won’t be left wondering what to do when actually i am doing something rather than rushing here and there for manna. I wonder, if i am truly loved and i felt a sense of assurance that I am loved. I am a child of God. I have no doubt, when Pastor Frankie and the preacher said “Hang on, the night is the darkest when it is about to hit dawn. Hang on.” That’s the voice of God no doubt, no doubt.

Daniel,

So, did the “manna and gems” actually appear?

(See even just writing about “signs and wonders” causes us to miss the real point of your post and focus on that 🙂 )

Yea, the manna appear out of nowhere on the floor and everyone ran to check it out. She showed us this GREEN GEM which is 50 Carat, a huge gem.

Do you believe that this was really from God or were they just “circus” magicians?

I have to tell you, if gems were appearing from God, I’d run to pick one up too 🙂

Whether it is from God or not, it doesn’t matter. I am ok if God were to give the manna or gem, or if it is not, it is the attitude of the people who rushed makes me sick. I wonder too, will i run forward if it was some gems….. then again for now, i know i won’t run to grab it. God was reminding of this biblical and eternal principle and was like drilling this into me “SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND ALL HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and all these things shall be added unto you”.

I’m curious and will probably go forward to see/touch. Anyway, i wanted to come & meet everybody after i was invited, but after i prayed about it, i decided not to.

John20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Earthquake tremors caused me to be evacuated from my office block. I was wondering will it collapse on me later, but it’s still in one piece after lunch hours.

Yes when Moses hastened at his own timing, he blundered. Not forgetting that Moses made a choice to identiful himself with the Hebrew slaves rather than be a co-ruler with the Egyptian masters. We all have choices to make, to go with the flow or against it.

True, but bearing in mind, even when Moses sin by murder and jumping ahead of God’s timing, God’s will is not thwarted. This is the mystery of the Sovereignty of God.

I will say, even our choices (free will) never mess up God’s plan and ALL things work in accordance to His Sovereign will – be it our sinfulness, or in our obedience, however, our obedience to His Will pleases the father.

1Sam13.13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God,
which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

Did Saul’s iniquities thwart God’s plans and His Promise to Abraham that the Messiah will one day come through His line, through his servants – Isaac, Jacob, etc? Nope. In fact, we see how God used the iniquities of Saul despite the many chances given to him to repent, until God has torn his kingdom away from him to give to his servant David.

I am convicted again and again that God is no respecter of what we have done for Him except that we in our own choice choose to obey Him. In our obedience to Him, We seek to glorify Him, and in His Glory, His perfect Will is executed through us, not for our His Benefits but for ours that we are reconciled to the single purpose in life – to live to worship and to glorify Him.

Yes we have to choose to obey Him or not. What happens if we repeatedly choose to disobey Him & walk contrary to His Word, & to love the world and all that the world provides (1Jhn2.15)? Does it glorify or please Him?

But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the LORD troubled him (1 Sam. 16:14, NKJV).

Yup, i am saying that even in Saul’s iniquities, God’s plan is not thwarted, or disrupted in anyway. Even through Sin, God’s perfect Will is done irregardless.

Yup, nobody understand the mystery of God’s sovereign plan until the end. For his disobedience, Saul was bypassed & David was chosen instead. Do we want to be bypassed, and someone else get chosen/delivered in our stead?

Galatians 1:4  Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Do you believe Saul was pre-destined for kingship as the original plan of God and not David? What constitutes a bypass of God’s will in a person’s life on the big picture of God’s plan?

I always thought if we were to get down to analyse why God did this or that in every minor details, truly i cannot explain anything at all why God did this or that. But holding on faith, that in truth and in foundation, ALL THINGS work together to give glory to God, still even if Saul was destined to fall, or even if he did repent, i believe God’s will is not thwarted. That includes you and me, i am not perfect and i doubt anyone is, but i am made perfect in Christ, not by my merit but Christ. Regeneration and Imputation of Righteousness are God’s work in ours, and what is required that we walk in obedience and in faith, daily in the fear of the Lord, that’s all we need to do. Whether we will be in danger of falling away, or not, is God’s faithfulness. How great is thy Grace O My God, that His Love, Justice, Grace, and Righteousness shall forever be my banner and my refuge.
