Taking care of Apostle in hospital

2 02 2007

The news of the bursting blood vessel which took the church by surprise, has probably took the drain off the church in more than one ways as we patiently and forcibly pushed to grow in maturity in the short 3 weeks of time by God. The question is no longer “Why” instead, “When” is looming largely on everyone’s heart when Apostle will walk out of that grim hospital like Lazarus out of the tomb, took off his pale and uncomfortable clothes and wires hooking to every imaginable annoying apparatus that go beep beep beep.

Almost three weeks is gone, while seeing Apostle lying on the bed, with Pastor Sally keeping vigilant watch and giving immaculate care out of her deep love and sacrifice for this man of God, really demonstrate the depth and strength of their lives. While many would share the same sentiment as me, seeing Pastor Sally losing four pounds in this short period of time, that it is time we gave back something to this family as much as they have given so much of theirs. When Jewel messaged us if anyone can help to take care of Apostle from 7pm to 11pm, I replied without hesitation.

That evening was like other evenings, except that I am walking to the hospital around 7pm. Met Pastor Rachel, and her youth with Cassandra there. The atmosphere was quite solemn and taking care of Apostle, massaging his legs, making sure he didn’t get his feet entangled in the bed railings, and among others, seeing Apostle getting stronger was nothing short of an encouragement. I hope he will get back stronger, and go up to the front of the church and preach. Apostle lost lots of weight but I am sure when he gets better, in no time, he will regain his weight by going after that ribeye steak in his fridge and enjoying all kinds of food. I am wondering what Apostle went through during those time when he was sleeping. Did Apostle meet Jesus, or did Jesus show Apostle around heavens? Can’t wait to hear such testimonies from the man who looked more like resting than had a stroke.

Cassandra went off when Jerome came. Thank God for Jerome, for bringing coffee from the Ah Mei Café, and of course, more than the coffee, his heart of servanthood. Seeing how Jerome took care of Apostle is really a humbling sight. Looking at myself. “Eeeww what am I doing? Be humble Daniel” I thought to myself. Time flies when the clock hits almost 10 and Mercy came after her appointment at Yishun. Pastor Sally came after her leaders meeting and she is such a strong lady, loving too no doubt, definitely a winner in God. I went off with Jewel, Jerome and Mercy and wondering what else I can do, but pray, that God will restore Apostle and hoping for a miracle.

Angie,
interesting article about communion. possible to take communion everyday at home or only in church?

1Cor11.24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in
remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Hi Joe

1 Cor 11:26 “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes”

what abt the Lord’s death are we proclaiming and to whome are we proclaiming it?

“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” Col 2:15

When we remember Jesus’ death, we are also proclaiming to the principalities and powers that they have been disarmed because He has triumphed over them.

There are ppl who take extreme moves.. like partaking of the HC at home 3x a day like taking medicine? but they get extreme results too 😉 Then again, the thing is not to take it religiously but understanding the meaning of it as explained in the link i sent you.

When I read your post about your apostle, my heart goes out to this man of God and those of you around him. What Satan seeks to destroy, God wants to restore. Although we know the prayer of the righteous avails much, God has provided a much better way through His body & blood. A way in which the world could not and never comprehend. 🙂

Here’s a blog which can give you a better explanation than mine :p

Alternatively, I have a little book called “Health & Wholeness through the Holy Communion” which I could send you too if you need. 😉

Blessings,
angie
