What is require of me.

“He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

This verse is the bedrock of my faith, a faith in Christ which justifies me, and the verse will be my guide and my foundation. To act Justly, to love Mercy, and to walk humbly before God.

Matt22.39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Hmm.. How do we love our neighbours???

The laws are summed up on these two and everything hangs on them –

a) To love your God with all your heart, your soul and your mind

b) to love each other as thyself.

How to love each other/neighbours? To act Justly towards them, showing Grace and Mercy and Love towards them, to walk humbly before Man trusting that God’s ways are better than ours, and putting our trust in Him.

How about the poor & needy?

Prov21.13 Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.

Well if one were to act Justly, show mercy and to walk humbly, that man will attend himself and effort to the cry of the poor, the needy, the ophans, the widows. Because such a man, beats in his heart, the same heartbeat of Jesus, one who has compassion, and be a channel of God’s justice.

Well, if a person has no time, busy in the ratrace, and can only attend to himself & his loved ones?

luke14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

I always believe in this – Count the cost. Jesus has laid out the simple rule in following him, forsaking everything, including the cares for our family, bearing our cross to follow Him. This is a test of our faith and our resolve to be a “Disciple” which separates us from the crowd call followers. A disciple forsaking all their privileges in life, to be a willing student that will be challenged to change.

Can a disciple of Christ delegate his responsibility away, by sponsoring/paying other christians to do his duty, so that he/she can enjoy the pleasures of this life and still secure treasures in the next life in heaven?

1Sam30.24 For who will hearken unto you in this matter? but as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff: they shall part alike.
